Iker Casillas, the legendary Spanish goalkeeper, has had an illustrious career in football. With over two decades of experience in the game, Casillas has won numerous accolades and established himself as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
Born in Móstoles, Spain, in 1981, Casillas began his football career at a young age, joining the youth academy of Real Madrid. He made his debut for the club in 1999, at the age of 18, and quickly established himself as a top-class goalkeeper. Over the next decade, he would go on to make over 700 appearances for the club, winning numerous titles along the way.
Casillas’ first major achievement came in the 1999-2000 season, when he helped Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to win the competition. He went on to win the Champions League three more times, in 2002, 2014, and 2018, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the competition’s history.
In addition to his success in the Champions League, Casillas also won five La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and four Spanish Super Cups with Real Madrid. He was also an integral part of the Spanish national team, helping them win the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012, as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
Casillas’ performances on the international stage were particularly impressive, as he helped Spain establish themselves as one of the dominant forces in world football. His performances in the 2010 World Cup were particularly memorable, as he made several crucial saves in the final against the Netherlands to help Spain win their first-ever World Cup.
