Maruti Suzuki, the leading SUV manufacturer in India, is gearing up to strengthen its SUV lineup with the introduction of three new models catering to diverse customer segments. Here's a detailed look at these upcoming additions:
1. 7-Seater Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara (Y17):
The Y17, a three-row variant of the Grand Vitara, is slated for launch around 2025. Equipped with a robust 1.5L hybrid petrol engine (shared with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder), this model is expected to offer versatile seating configurations, possibly accommodating six or seven passengers. With an estimated price exceeding Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom), it will compete with rivals such as Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Citroen C3 Aircross seven-seater, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
2. Maruti Suzuki Micro SUV (Y43):
Scheduled for 2026 or 2027, this micro SUV will position itself below the Brezza compact SUV. Expected to feature a 1.2L Z series petrol engine, the Y43 will likely debut the 1.0L turbo Booster Jet three-cylinder petrol mill. Offering both manual and automatic transmission options, the model aims to compete with Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Top-spec trims are anticipated to include advanced features like six airbags, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a semi-digital instrument console, and connected car tech.
3. Maruti Suzuki eVX:
Launching in late 2024, the eVX electric vehicle is based on the 2023 Auto Expo showcased concept. Positioned against upcoming electric models like Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta EV, the eVX boasts two battery packs, projecting a claimed driving range exceeding 500 km in top-end variants. With advanced interior features, this five-seater electric SUV is expected to be priced above Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
