A U.S. District Court Judge in Maryland issued a major Second Amendment ruling in a recent case challenging Maryland's latest firearm rules that were implemented in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to broaden Second Amendment rights across the country.
Maryland, like other states, including New York, went with a plan to attempt to stifle firearm carrying within the state by implementing a sort of permission-based carry regime. The law states that, apart from the exceptions like hospitals, schools, and government buildings where they are flat-out banned, if a person wants to lawfully carry a firearm inside any building or business, then the owner of that building or business must expressly permit the carrying of firearms on their premises.
The idea is that it would create not only a social pressure to not outwardly permit firearms but also put the legality of carrying firearms in the hands of businesses rather than the government in a sense.
Now, anyone with half a brain realized how absolutely ridiculous these laws were from the start, and it was only a matter of time before they got struck down. They were just a desperate attempt by left-wing governments to try and stifle gun ownership. Now, the district court judge has ruled that these ridiculous provisions of the law are unconstitutional. Obviously.
But Democrats will keep trying. They'll think of every little trick in the book to get you to not carry a gun. They'll do things like California, which require you to pay for a gun with a credit card. They'll do things like every other liberal state and city, which have been purposely slowing down firearm permit processes to dissuade people from carrying. They'll make laws that tell you that if you improperly store your gun in your own home, even if you don't live with anyone else, if someone breaks in and steals it and commits a crime with it, you'll be held responsible. And who knows what else they'll do next.
Maybe, theyโll just start ignoring the Supreme Court?
