In parts of Uttar Pradesh, government sponsors mass community Marriages. In these marriages couples belonging from both Hindu and Muslim communities exchange wedding vows in presence of their relatives and friends.

The ceremonies are conducted by priests and religious leaders in accordance with their respective religions.

These marriages are an initiative undertaken by the state government and has garnered praise among different communities in Uttar Pradesh.

The marriages are held in Uttar Pradesh in order to eradicate pain and suffering of women and daughters, as it tries to show that the common people are getting the true benefits of independence.

People of downtrodden communities, the dalits, widows, and poor people who need financial assistance are getting married with help of the government, because of holding such events.

Arrangements of huge pandal and guests are also made, along with creation of social participation.
