The 39th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai,  for both Australia and Afghanistan is an important one, as both are fighting to make their position to the semifinals World Cup 2023 season! 🏏

A win for Australia will take them to 12 points and ensure them a semifinal berth. Afghanistan too are in the race for semi-final and will hope for another upset. A win will take Afghanistan close to a semi-final spot but won't guarantee them a spot.

The Aussies have made a great back to the World Cup event! They are at the 3rd of the World Cup table with losing 2 matches and winning 5.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have had a dream run at this year's Cricket World Cup and currently sit 6th on the ICC World Cup points table with 8 points from their 7 matches so far.

The toss is done, Afghanistan has won the toss and will bat first in their crucial match against Australia.

Afghanistan Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said, "We want to bat first. The wicket looks good now and we are hopeful it will seam and spin in the second innings. We have done well chasing but you also have to look at the opposition and the ground. He (Sachin Tendulkar) is a legend of the game, we were excited to see him and learn from him, he had some words for us and we will try to learn from that.

Whereas Australia also wanted to bat first but they're not worried.

Captain Pat Cummins said, "Not too much (worried about the toss). We would have had a bat but it is fine. Really happy with the way we have gone, five (wins) in a row, one of the most pleasing thing is we have played 14 guys so far and everyone has done well, long may that continue. It (weather conditons) is always a factor, it is a bit cooler than it was a month ago, we will be fine we have got plenty of bowling options."
