In the latest Saudi Pro League match between Al Nassr and Abha, Cristiano Ronaldo finally showed his worth and played a pivotal role in inspiring his team to victory. Despite Abha scoring the first goal of the match in the first half and appearing to be in control, Ronaldo's incredible free-kick in the 78th minute helped Al Nassr equalize. Just five minutes later, Talisca converted a penalty to put Al Nassr in the lead and secure the win. With this victory, Al Nassr are now just one point behind the league leaders, Al Ittihad.
A first-half Abha goal scored by Abdulfattah Adam, an Al Nassr product on loan to Abha, stunned Al Nassr. The 28-year-old did well to hit the top corner, but he refused to celebrate out of respect for Al Nassr and the club's fans.
With chaotic attacking sequences and little flow in their movements, Al Nassr struggled to mount a response. Rudi Garcia's team kept searching for the equaliser and came agonisingly close on a few occasions. Cristiano Ronaldo, however, scored a stunning free kick in the 78th minute to equalise. Even though the shot went through the wall, Devis Epassy, the Abha goalkeeper, was beaten by it.
In the 80th minute, Zakaria Al-Sudani of Abha was dismissed, and Al-Nassr won a penalty with the ensuing free kick. Brazilian Anderson Talisca surprised everyone by making the first shot while everyone was expecting Cristiano Ronaldo to step up and make it his second of the evening. At Mrsool Park, he found the corner in the 86th minute to give the home team the lead.
With nine games remaining in the season, the win brings them to within one point of league leaders Al Ittihad. Abderrazak Hamdallah scored a hat-trick to lead Al Ittihad to a 5-1 victory over Al Fateh in their earlier match.
