Morocco was held to a 0-0 draw by Peru in a friendly at Atletico Madrid's Civitas Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday.
Morocco defeated Brazil 2-1 in Tangier on Saturday in their first game following their heroics at the World Cup in Qatar, where they became the first African and Arab country to reach the final four.
It was a fast-paced game, with Morocco constantly on the attack and Peru looking for chances on the counter, but it was marred by frequent stoppages.
Morocco's Hakim Ziyech came closest, with two good first-half chances and another 15 minutes from time that shaved the outside of the post.
The first half saw few clear-cut chances, with both teams attempting to create chances but failing to find the back of the net. Morocco came closest to scoring in the 19th minute, when Noussair Mazraoui's cross found Youssef En-Nesyri, but Pedro Gallese saved his shot.
The second half began similarly to the first, with both teams attempting to break the tie. The game, however, took an unexpected turn in the 79th minute, when both teams were reduced to 10 men. Carlos Zambrano and Sofiane Boufal were both sent off for aggressive behavior, leaving each team with one less player for the rest of the game.
Despite being a man down, both teams pushed for a victory. In the 85th minute, Morocco had a good chance when Achraf Hakimi's cross found Youssef En-Nesyri, but his header went wide. Peru had a late chance to win in the 89th minute, but Gianluca Lapadula's shot was saved by Bounou.
Despite the reduced number of players, neither team was able to break through, and the game ended in a goalless draw. Both teams will be disappointed with the outcome, as they had hoped for a win to boost their confidence ahead of upcoming games.
Morocco will now focus on their next match, while Peru will look to rebound from this result in their next game.
