Rapinoe made a name for herself in the eyes of the public as more than just a soccer player. Her anti-American sentiments and extreme left-wing ideals brought many detractors. Despite this, she had a storied career, made possible by a free nation - America - that allows women to pursue any endeavor they choose. This is a nation that actually allows Women to compete in the women’s World Cup, and Rapinoe’s actions ultimately put the final nail in the coffin for the U.S.’s chances at victory on the world stage.
