The appointment of Vikas Purohit as Director of Global Business Group in India by Meta Inc was made public on Monday. Purohit will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of the charter that is targeted at the top advertisers and agency partners in the nation, the company said.

"I am thrilled to welcome Vikas as he joins our team to shape the role that Meta platforms can play in enabling businesses, supporting India's economic growth, and building the digital advertising ecosystem of the country", said Arun Srinivas, Director and Head of Ads Business for Meta in India, to whom Purohit will report.

This occurs shortly after Meta experienced significant C-Suite departures in India, beginning with Ajit Mohan, who served as Vice President and Managing Director of Meta India. After nearly four years in charge, he left the business in early November. A little more than a week later, Abhijit Bose, WhatsApp's Head of India, also announced his resignation after serving for close to four years. Bose's departure was followed by that of Meta India's Director of Public Policy, Rajiv Aggarwal.

Purohit will be in charge of Meta's interactions with the biggest companies in India and the agency sector. To drive Meta's revenue growth across key channels in India, Purohit will lead the company's strategic relationships with the leading brands and agencies in the nation and will have chief agency teams, business solutions teams, and business vertical teams reporting to him. He will also work with the media and creative ecosystems to hasten the adoption of digital tools by the biggest advertisers and agencies.

Vikas Purohit was earlier the CEO of TataCliq. Having an experience of more than 20 years in senior business, sales and marketing roles, the IIT BHU and IIM Bangalore alumnus started off his career with Aditya Birla Group. He then went on to join Tommy Hilfiger before heading retails at Reliance Brands. He is known for playing an instrumental role at Amazon where he led and build Amazon Fashion.
