The Indian Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for Assam and its neighbouring areas on Monday, April 24.
As per the forecast released by IMD, cyclonic circulation is lying over Assam and neighbourhood areas up to 1.5 km.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the same in the state and has predicted light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya and light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura in the following week.
“Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura,” read the IMD report.
The IMD uses four colour codes - green (no action needed), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared) and red (take action) - for weather warnings.
Guwahati’s temperature today has been recorded to be at 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 20 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature is predicted to rise to 35 with partly cloudy sky, as per IMD reports. There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm as predicted by IMD on April 29 and 30.
