MI New York has set the stage on fire with their star-studded bowling lineup for the upcoming MLC 2023 competition. Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, and Kagiso Rabada have joined forces to create an unstoppable force on the field.
Rashid Khan, known for his incredible leg spin and deceptive variations, brings a wealth of experience and skills to the MI New York squad. Boult, the master of left-arm swing, and Rabada, the fiery South African speedster, form a lethal pace attack that will give nightmares to opposition batsmen.
Joining this international powerhouse are Nicholas Pooran, Tim David, Dewald Brevis, and Jason Behrendorff. Pooran and Boult continue their association with the MI franchise, having played for MI Emirates in the ILT20 event. Rashid and Rabada have represented MI Cape Town in the past. David and Brevis add to their MI experiences, having played in the IPL and SA20.
Kieron Pollard, the seasoned all-rounder, has been appointed captain, bringing his immense leadership qualities to the team. Adding further strength, David Wiese joins the squad as an exceptional all-rounder.
The coaching staff is equally impressive, with former South African international Robin Peterson as the head coach and the legendary Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach. J. Arunkumar and James Pamment will handle batting and fielding coaching duties, respectively.
Akash Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians, expressed his excitement, stating, "It is an extraordinary lineup of youth, experience, and power." He believes that MI New York, along with their talented local US players, will raise the bar of competition in the US cricket ecosystem.
The MLC is set to kick off on July 13, and cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the clash of titans. The LA Knight Riders have also announced their marquee overseas players, including Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Jason Roy, and Lockie Ferguson, further intensifying the tournament's appeal.
