Mike Pence: Trump's behavior during the congressional riot was irresponsible but not criminal.
Mike Pence, the former Vice President of the United States of America, said on Sunday that the behavior and speech of Donald Trump in the case of the riot of the Congress on January 6, 2021 was irresponsible, but he does not think that Trump should be prosecuted for it.
Like Trump, Pence is a candidate for the US presidency.
"From what I understand, what he said in this case was irresponsible, but I haven't yet concluded that it was criminal," Trump's former vice president said in an interview with CNN on Sunday.
Trump is accused of trying to prevent the transfer of power to Joe Biden. Mike Pence expressed hope that Trump will not face criminal charges from a grand jury.
Former President Donald Trump said on Tuesday this week that he is the subject of a grand jury investigation into the riots by Trump supporters protesting the victory of Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
If jurors agree that Trump's actions were criminal for encouraging his supporters to protest the election results, Trump could face criminal charges and prison time.
