"Excess of everything is bad", every good thing also has some side effects. Drinking water from a copper bottle is believed to have several health benefits, but there are also some mistakes that people make while using a copper bottle. Here are some of them;
LEAVING WATER IN THE COPPER BOTTLE FOR TOO LONG - When you leave water in a copper bottle for too long, it can lead to the leaching of copper ions from the copper surface into the water. The length of time it takes for copper to leach into the water depends on various factors, such as the quality of the copper, the temperature of the water, and the pH of the water. It is recommended not to store water in a copper bottle for more than 6-8 hours. It's best to empty the copper bottle and refill it with fresh water regularly.
DRINKING ACIDIC BEVERAGES - When you drink acidic beverages such as citrus juices, vinegar, or carbonated drinks from a copper bottle, it can accelerate the oxidation process of the copper, leading to the release of copper ions into the liquid. This can cause a metallic taste in the beverage and may even change its color. Additionally, the increased acidity can cause more copper to dissolve in the liquid, potentially leading to copper toxicity if consumed over a long period.
NOT CLEANING THE COPPER BOTTLE PROPERLY - If you don't clean your copper bottle properly, it can lead to the accumulation of copper oxide and copper sulfate on the surface of the bottle. These compounds can potentially contaminate the water or liquid stored in the bottle, leading to health risks. They can cause gastrointestinal distress, and can also cause liver and kidney damage. It's also essential to clean the copper bottle or glass with lemon and salt in once in a month to remove any copper oxide or other impurities.
OVERUSING THE COPPER BOTTLE - To avoid overusing a copper bottle, it is recommended to limit the use to 1-2 times a day and not to drink directly from the bottle continuously.
