Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai convened an inspection with the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, Fr. Simião Purificação Fernandes and other priests to review the progress of preparations for the highly anticipated decennial Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier, affectionately known as ‘Gõycho Saib.’ This significant event is scheduled to take place from November 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025, in Old Goa.
They conducted an extensive site inspection to evaluate and prioritize the necessary tasks to ensure the exposition's successful execution. The inspection covered various areas crucial for the event's smooth operation.
During the meeting, MLA Faldessai sought valuable feedback and suggestions from those present highlighting the importance of their contributions to both the planning and implementation stages. He underscored the event's importance to the local community and its broader cultural and religious significance, emphasizing the need for meticulous planning and coordination.
Faldessai praised the exposition committee for their dedication and progress to date, urging them to sustain their efforts as the event approaches. "I have assured the organising committee of my ongoing support to tackle any challenges that may arise during this preparatory phase. Our inspection today included a thorough inspection of the areas around Se Cathedral to ensure no detail is overlooked in organizing this once-in-a-decade event," said Faldessai.
He further stated, “The Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier is a momentous occasion that draws pilgrims and tourists from around the world. The successful organization of this event will not only pay tribute to St. Francis Xavier's legacy but also highlight Goa's rich cultural heritage. I am honored to be involved in the preparations for this significant religious event during my tenure as an MLA.”
