Mohammed Shami is working hard on his comeback to international cricket. He is out of action for more than eight months due to an ankle injury.
Now after his successful surgery, Shami has started practising and bowling in the nets.
He spoke about his retirement from cricket after the speedster was reminded of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja’s calling it quit from the shortest format.
Shami refused to reveal any time frame and highlighted his interest level. “I have no plans to retire from cricket at the moment. The moment I get bore and stop enjoying the game, I will take retirement. I am looking forward to returning to the field and I can still contribute across formats,” Shami said on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast.
“You will see me bowl with Jasprit Bumrah in the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup. I am going nowhere,” he added.
The right-arm seamer also backed Shubman Gill, who led Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024. “Shubman Gill is a good captain. He looked good in IPL 2024. If the players didn’t perform well, you can’t blame Gill,” he concluded.
