Mohammad Shami has been at the top of the headlines despite being out of action due to an injury as he recently won the prestigious Arjuna Award, the second-highest sporting honor.
Shami penned a heartfelt note after the monumental achievement as the star Indian pacer shared a post on his official social media handles, thanking his family members and friends & fans for the support.
The 33-year-old set the ODI World Cup 2023 on fire with his remarkable bowling performances as he ended up being the leading wicket-taker in the tournament despite missing out on the first few matches in the marquee tournament.
Shami also surpassed the legendary Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to become India's highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cups. He now has 55 wickets in the marquee tournament.
"I don't have words to explain that how I started my journey from Amroha to Indian cricket. Passion is always there and I always try to play as much as I can and do well for the country," Shami had spoken earlier.
"I take great pride in having one of the best childhoods since the best parents raised me in the entire universe," Shami thanked his parents in his heartfelt post as well after receiving the prestigious award.
The pacer revealed that he was playing through injuries in the ODI World Cup according to reports, and was ruled out after the tournament after failing to clear the medical tests by the BCCI.
