Moin Khan Urges Indian Cricket Legends to Address Political Tensions Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy
Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has expressed concerns over the potential absence of India from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan. He has urged prominent Indian cricketers to advocate for the separation of sports from politics to ensure the event's success.
Khan suggested that influential former players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, and Rahul Dravid should intervene with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to help resolve the ongoing political tensions that may impact India's participation. He emphasized that cricket should not be hindered by political issues and that the fans would benefit from the revival of Indo-Pak cricketing ties.
Furthermore, Khan criticized the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not taking a stronger stance if India opts out of the tournament. He proposed that if India does not participate, Pakistan should reconsider its future involvement in ICC events held in India.
The participation of the Indian team in the ICC Champions Trophy remains uncertain due to strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan, with India not touring Pakistan since 2006.
