Most parts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy rains on Wednesday due to the re-activation of monsoon. This first heavy rain of Sawan brought smiles on the faces of farmers waiting for rain for paddy crop, while people got relief from the humid heat. This rain is going to prove to be a boon for paddy crop. Farmers, who were tired of sunshine, humidity and heat for the past few days, were waiting for rain. Heavy rains in Azamgarh, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, Lucknow, Maharajganj etc. areas of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday led to waterlogging at many places. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm in a dozen districts for Thursday. Talking about the maximum temperature of the day, Basti and Bulandshahr recorded the highest temperature of 38 degree Celsius in the state on Wednesday. Meerut recorded 37.4 degrees and Ballia and Muzaffarnagar recorded 36 degrees Celsius. At night, Varanasi recorded the lowest temperature of 23.1 degrees Celsius, Gorakhpur 23.9 degrees and Churk 24 degrees Celsius
