Mrs Undercover (2023)
A Review of the Movie as Available on Netflix
Mrs Undercover is the story of Durga, an undercover agent who's married off at a young age as an "undercover" who's called back to work on the field after the Special Force loses all its agents and discovers Durga as their agent, who was somehow missing. She's tasked with finishing off the Common Man, who's an embodiment of all things wrong with society, be it patriarchy or misogyny.
First of all, Sumeet Vyas and Radhika Apte have played their characters brilliantly. I actually started hating the Common Man for just existing because his words quite often echoed what society has said time and again, though exaggerated. Radhika Apte is equally wonderful as both a housewife and agent, balancing both roles with grace and effortless work.
The comedy in the movie is impeccable and makes you laugh out time and again but not for a moment, does one lose track of the story over the course of the comedy. Radhika Apte is her hilarious best with dialogues like "7 dino mein mere ladke ka unit test hai!" that makes you chuckle.
She's equally brilliant at the action sequences with my personal best being the one in which she fights in a saree before coming out in a bodysuit followed by the main climax.
The story is brilliant at what it wants to portray about the undermining of the housewife by both family and the society, but at the very same time, how Durga becomes Mahishaasur Mardini when time calls for it. Radhika Apte and comedy fans will definitely love this outing, but I loved the movie solely for its quirkiness.
