My favourite place in Afghanistan is Qargha Lake, it is located in capital city Kabul and it's a very popular picnic destination for families. On some weekends I used to go there with my family and my uncle's family. It was really a beautiful and stunning lake giving an exhilarating view. There are varieties of activities available like, there are ferris wheel rides, horses to rent for a gallop along the lakeshore, also offering a spectacular view of the water body!

The area is surrounded by restaurants, mostly of a grill-type service with outdoor and indoor seating so whilst I used to enjoy the unbelievably tasty local food there. After the lunch I used to get some Afghan ice-cream called (Sheer E Yakh).  Whenever I used to go there I had a good walk around the lake, go for a boat ride and ferries wheel ride and then enjoyed my nice time in fair ground & more entertainment areas. As far it had a noisy atmosphere with milling crowds on weekends but still I felt so calm and peaceful being there. From my point of view Qargha Lake is one of the most favoured picnic spots to spend a good time with your loved ones. I genuinely miss those days the most. All in all, a pleasant, quiet and tasty way to experience the outskirts of Kabul.
