McConnell still voted to acquit, though :( and while you have Romney voting his way, you have Boebert and Greene becoming loud voices. I’m hoping too but there’s a long road ahead
I completely agree that it was disappointing Trump was acquitted in the impeachment trial. But in these divisive times I think we can all agree that it was no surprise this was the outcome. Seven brave people stood up to Trump’s disgraceful actions and are now facing serious backlash for it. It is sad and unfortunate in this age of hyper tribalistic, “us vs.them at all costs” politics that people can’t vote their conscience. Look what happened to Romney in the first impeachment trial. He,has been voting his conscience and living like he has nothing to lose and has been literally shunned and treated as a member of “the other tribe” for it. Mitch McConnell is finally standing up to Trump in a very big way. I am grateful for these people. Their votes demonstrated a rebuke of Trump’s actions and they are paying for it. Maybe their examples will inspire others to stand up more in the future.
