Ms. Noor's family members said they did not know on what charges Nadimeh had been arrested. The Taliban did not say what the reason for her arrest was.

Nadima's brother Dastaan Noor told the Washington Post that about a month ago, several gunmen posing as members of the Taliban raided and arrested Nadima Noor's office.

Nadimeh Noor, 38, is a Canadian-Afghan national and ran a small relief organization with a Western colleague in Kabul. The Western ally was also detained by the Taliban.
