Various public sector entities, including banks, insurance companies, and regional rural banks, are slated to close for half a day on January 22 to mark the Ram Lalla ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony in Ayodhya. BJP-ruled states, in alignment with the central government, have declared public holidays or half-days for the event.
The Department of Personnel and Training has mandated a half-day closure for central government establishments until 2:30pm. In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a statewide holiday with closed educational institutions and liquor shops. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan declared school closures, with the former imposing a dry day. Chhattisgarh and Haryana also announced holidays for government schools, while Assam and Tripura declared half-days.
Additionally, Goa declared a public holiday for government employees, and the legal fraternity requested a judicial holiday on January 22 to facilitate participation in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir ceremony.
