Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Wednesday praised Corlim-based Deccan Fine Chemicals for rendering assistance through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He was speaking during a function organised by the company to distribute educational materials to students of government primary schools in Old Goa, Marcela, Adkon, Bhoma, Carambolim, Corlim, and Cumbarjua villages under its CSR initiative.
Deccan Fine Chemicals Head for HR, Admin and CSR, Yogesh Arora; Deccan Fine Chemicals Manager CSR, Gaurav Kudchadkar;
Deccan Fine Chemicals site head, Kiran Desai; Adei Tiswadi, Geeta Faldessai and other dignitaries were present.
Faldessai said that nearly 650 students annually benefit from Deccan Fine’s CSR programmes.
“This is the only company that is helping us, other companies do not stand up to their promises. I had even raised the issue in the Assembly. Many companies in our constituency are making profits in crores, but they choose to spend their CSR funds outside the state. Deccan Fine is helping people across the state. They have come forward, especially during the Covid pandemic. Everyone cannot get government jobs, but our youth from the constituency have got jobs in this company. At times, they have created vacancies for our youth. The company is also assisting those who cannot afford to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi,” he said.
He also assured to help Deccan Fine Chemicals with any requirement.
“We have been continuously striving to help economically-backward students in whatever way we can so that they have access to education. Whenever I approach Deccan Fine with our requirements, be it benches for the students, they have always complied. In Cumbarjua, Corlim, Old Goa, Carambolim, and other areas like Marcel, primary students from economically-backward families have benefitted immensely from this company. Be it sheds, beautification, etc, they have helped us in the past. Sometimes I feel I should felicitate them at the hands of the Chief Minister or some big leader,” he added.
