The actress plays a nonagenarian, who is yearning to see a glimpse of her house she was forced to leave during partition .

In an interview with Bollywood bubble, the veteran actor said that she chose to go ahead and give birth to Masaba because of her love for Richards.
She said that she could never poison Masaba against her father, because she loved him, and one can't hate someone they loved at the flip of a switch.

In the last few years, Gupta has become one of the go-to senior performers when it comes to 'unique' characters in films like Badhaai Ho!, Shubh Mangal zyada savdhan, as well as web series Panchayat and Masaba Masaba.

Her latest release Sardar Ka Grandson, in which she plays Sardar, the 90-year-old grumpy matriarch who wishes to see her home in Lahore one last time, is the latest addition to that list.
