Nepal and Oman secured their berths in the 2024 men's T20 World Cup after emerging victorious in the Asia qualifier semi-finals. In a dominant display, Oman trounced Bahrain by ten wickets, limiting Bahrain to a mere 106 runs while openers Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale effortlessly chased down the target.
In another semi-final, Nepal conquered the UAE in a challenging chase, securing an eight-wicket victory. Aqib Ilyas' remarkable spell restricted Bahrain to 106 for 9. Likewise, spinners Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane contained UAE's innings to 134 for 9. Nepal opener Aasif Sheikh's unbeaten 64 paved the way for their win.
With Nepal and Oman joining the 2024 T20 World Cup, 18 teams have confirmed their spots. The remaining two spots will be determined through the Africa qualifier's conclusion at the end of the month.
The upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024 will be held across the West Indies and the USA. Automatic berths have been secured by hosts West Indies and the USA, with several other teams qualifying, including Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Canada. This will mark Nepal's second appearance in the T20 World Cup, ten years after their initial qualification in 2014.
