New Year Revelry: 2 Days Patnitop Winter Carnival concludes
Annual footfall crosses 6 lakh
The famed Winter Carnival at Patnitop concluded today with enthralling cultural and musical performances by popular artists and singers from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir.The world-famous hill station, has been hosting the festival for years for New Year revelry that brings all the best parts of being amidst the snow to life, and is one of the biggest annual events of Jammu region and its tourism calendar.The first day was marked by foot tapping Punjabi performances by Lakhwinder Wadali, and second day had Sangram Hanjra and Saptic Fusion Band of Jammu performing for the audience. The folk art giants and Cultural Academy artists of Jammu region including renowned Ram Ditta and Party, JR Sharma Jackson, Mohinnder, Parul Kashaf, Divya Bharti, Ashok Hans were amongst the main attractions.
The festival was thrown open on Friday by Mussarat Ul Islam, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, along with Mohita Sharma, SSP Ramban, Sher Singh, CEO PDA, Harbans Sharma, ADC Ramban, Naresh Kumar, Deputy Director Tourism Jammu, Dr Umesh Shan, AD NHW-Batote.
Organized by Patnitop Development Authority and Directorate of Tourism Jammu in conjunction with District Administrations Udhampur and Ramban, and , the festival as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav exposed tourists to a confluence of Jammu's ethnic arts, crafts, cuisines, and engaged them in fun activities besides entertaining them with performances by various Celebrity Artists. Large number of tourists from all over India thronged the meadows of Patnitop while following the COVID appropriate behaviour. The CEO PDA said the festival shall encourage tourism in the whole of Jammu region and promote attractions in the Patnitop circuit.
Patnitop has in recent months hosted events like Hill Marathon, Monsoon Festival, Sanasar-Shankhpal Trek, Literary Festival, Bollywood Nights, SVEEP Campaign with Heritage Trek, BYC Snow Drive, and many more with involvement from various government departments. This has provided a significant boost to the footfall, and Patnitop has already broken its 2019 records, ending its year with more than six lakh footfall.
