Did you ever get scratched by your newborn baby and thought...oh my, how can their nails be so sharp??
All new parents will agree that their baby's nails grow faster than they ever imagine and those tiny harmless nails can cause a lot of hurt and pain not just for us but even for them...
Newborn babies tend to have soft, flexible nails that grow astonishingly quickly and can get quite ragged and sharp. This means they can easily scratch themselves and even claw their faces, so you'll need to learn how to keep your baby's nails clean and short.
- Newborns require regular trimming of their nails.
- They grow very quickly hence you may have to trim once or twice a week.
- Baby's toe mails grow much more slowly and are usually soft.
- The most convenient time to trim nails is during their sleep.
We need to be extremely particular about trimming their nails as they can cause more harm than expected with their hand movements... Using blunt nail scissors are of great help in trimming nails. Their mails being pliable and soft can easily be trimmed.
- Trim the finger nails along the curve, don't forget to cut off the pointed side nail edges.
- Cut toe nails straight across.
- Have adequate lighting and don't cut nails in dim light.
- Avoid biting off their nails even though they look soft.
