Health, to me, is about making small, but significant changes to prolong our duration of "wellness". Here are no-nonsense tips to be healthy;
Walk - I don't do Apple Watches and count my 10 k steps every day. Some days it's 5 k other days it's 15k or some days it's not more than 3k. I kinda don't enjoy walking too. But if life has taught me anything, it's that walking is to human beings what driving is to a car. Both were made to move.
Drink - Ahh another difficult one for me. I've struggled with my water intake. It's a good day if l've managed to finish 2 big bottles. But having looked at the people around me who consciously make it a point to drink more than 2.5 L of water daily, carry their bottles around with them, take a few sips every now and then - I can SEE the difference. Their skin is glowing for one and if that's not a good enough reason then maybe the fact that our body is 60% water and needs water for metabolic activities should be reason enough.
Reduced phone exposure - SPECIALLY in the mornings! The most important things you can do to protect the health of your brain is to reduce your phone exposure first thing in the morning. Go on a dopamine detox. I know how tempting it is to grab your phone first thing in the morning and scroll through reels. But what this is basically doing is signalling the pleasure centre in your brain to release dopamine and crave more of it through the day.
Real foods - This doesn't even mean canned peaches, cut fruits in a box, or bottled juices. This means what is says - real, whole, fresh foods. Growing up, my mom never allowed any packaged foods inside the house. As a result craving for chips, banana wafers, cup-ะพ-noodles, aloo bhujiya wasn't even part of my taste palette. Remember - The more you consume foods with a higher expiration date, the faster you'll reach yours.
