Being a Bengali, I absolutely despise the word 'bong'. We're people, not something you smoke pot through
Although Bengalis are known for their food, but in an everyday Bengali household nobody cooks and eats so much. That's a lot of food, a lot!
Yes usually Bengali households have two to three course meals on an everyday basis, but these sort of lavish and grand meals are generally made only on occasions, and on family get-togethers.
No doubt we Bengalis are big time foodies, as some of our traditions are just all about eating big meals. Like 'Aai Budo Bhaat' is one such Bengali tradition in which the bride eats her last meal at her parents house before the marriage.
In this ritual all the favourite meals of the bride are made, and are served to her at the lunch. During Aaibudobhaat, more than the bride, the occasion for friends, and family members of the bride is a day of gala feast, fun and celebration.
The meal cooked for Aibudobhaat is auspicious therefore is prepared at home. It usually consists of the quintessential Bengali delicacies like Aloo Posto, Fish Fry, Fish Curry, Chicken or Mutton, bhaja, Doi ar Mishti, Shaag, and not to forget 'rice' which holds immense cultural significance for Bengalis.
If you are a true foodie and want to have grand meals just make a Bengali friend, and enjoy big course meals filled with variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes.
