Premier League side Nottingham Forest have relieved manager Steve Cooper of his duties as manager following a poor run of results in the league that see the club sitting at 17th place, just above the relegation zone.
The decision to remove Cooper from the post of manager has come after a stretch of poor form in which his side failed to win a single game in the last 6 games. The picture becomes more bleak in the bigger picture, with Forest managing to win just a solitary game in their last 13 games in all competitions.
Forest started the season in very optimistic fashion that seen them upset Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and winning 2 of the first 4 games, but things have seen a downward spiral since those heady heights of the early stages.
Their last win in the League came back in November that saw them beat unlikely title challengers Aston Villa 2-0. That win saw them end a 6-game winless run as well, but instead of building on from that positive result, they have only gone to stagnate even further.
The nadir of the Steve Cooper reign came in the fixture against Fulham, which saw Forest put in a shambolic display that seen them concede 5 against the West London side. That result was too much to bear, and the subsequent loss against Tottenham Hotspur proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Cooper.
However, despite the sack, Cooper's overall tenure at Forest will be looked upon quite fondly. Taking over a side that sat bottom of the table in the Championship in 2021, Cooper overseen a phenomenal run of results that took Forest all the way to the Championship playoffs, where they beat Huddersfield to gain promotion to the Premier League.
He then went one step further and steered the club to safety last season, steering the club to a 16th place finish despite hovering over the bottom 3 throughout the season.
While no replacement has been officially announced, it has been revealed that Forest are in advanced talks with former Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo to take the vacant manager's place.
