OLD TALES OF TEA
My dear friends in the tea gardens we mostly prefer to relax and sip our cup of tea or have a chilled beer during hot summer sitting in our jali kamra , where one gets an idyllic view of the lawn and its surroundings. So one can easily enjoy just relaxing here soaking in the ambiance, busy with one thought.
Quite often while meditating I wonder about the majestic bungalow, which is not possible to have in the city with a huge lawn. In this bungalow, there must be so many generations living and sitting in this same Jaali kamra where I am sitting today. The footfalls of yesteryears would have taken the same familiar path which we take today.
These old bungalow walls stand as silent testimony to the years gone by. These walls have so many tales to tell us, I wish they could speak and tell me stories of the past generation.
Sitting here sometimes I imagine British Memsahib in her attire, daintily taking a walk down the garden pathway.
The older trees in the compound too speak their tales of the days gone by. In one of our bungalows, there was an old Banyan tree and it still exists I asked my mali (gardener) how old that banyan tree was, and his reply was a hundred years old. I admire how this tree has withstood the ravage of time. Whenever I plant a tree, I always believe that perhaps someone in the distance will further appreciate them being there, maybe write about them as I am doing now.
