Indian women's hockey team is currently playing against the Netherlands. Rani Rampal has equalised for the women's hockey team against the Dutch. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, competing in the 49kg category brought an end to India's wait for a medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Day 2. She won a silver medal at the event, with China's weightlifter who won the gold. Saurabh Chaudhary, who had topped the qualification round in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event, was the second shooter to be eliminated in the final.

Earlier, Apurvi Chandela & Elavenil Valarivan were the first in action as they began the 10m Air Rifle Women's Qualification event. Both finished outside the top 8 that was required to secure qualification. In the archery mixed-team event, however, India defeated Chinese Taipei 5-3 to enter quarter-finals.

India defeated New Zealand in their opening Pool A Hockey game 3-2. Manika Batra and Achanta Kamal's campaign in mixed-team table tennis comes to an end with a 4-0 defeat in the Round of 16. In the mixed-team archery event, Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav were eliminated by the Koreans 6-2.
