Yes it was a bit slow but worth it in the end!
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. He considered it is dream project. It is a comedy-drama movie. The movie shows the story of the fading actor Rick Dalton, and his stuntman Cliff Booth. They are best friends and even consider each other brothers. Rick is played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Cliff is played by Brad Pitt. The movie is set in 1969 in Los Angeles. The 60s are considered as the golden age of Hollywood. The conflict in the movie is about nostalgia, cults, and insecurities of a fading celebrity. Tarantino himself said that this movie is his love letter to the golden age of Hollywood.
This movie is a buddy movie, and we see the friendship of Rick and Cliff shine through. Rick is the neighbour of famous director-producer Roman Polanski and his wife Sharon Tate. Cliff meets a girl who leads him to a cult, but he leaves them suspiciously. This was the cult of the serial killer Charles Manson and has been taken from the true events. Rick struggling to find roles goes to meet casting agent Marvin (Al Pacino), who recommends him to go to Italy and work in Spaghetti Westerners, these movies were made regarding cowboys made in Italy, which showed the Western area of US, or the deserts of other regions. These movies were all about gunslinging cowboys. Upon being cast by Marvin for many such movies, Rick for six months works in Italy with Cliff along and finally returns to Los Angeles. He has married Francesca who’s an Italian actress. Upon his return Rick tells Cliff that he can no longer afford his services. They go out and party for the last time.
The movie for most fans was slow, but the climax was everything you expect from a Tarantino flick. Upon their return, their home is invaded by the members of Manson’s cult. Cliff and her dog Brandy manage to kill two and the last invader is burned by Rick. Here Tarantino rewrites history as the three invaders in real life had murdered Sharon Tate.
