Well done, guys! Such a great initiative!
Amazing effort, kudos to the team!
During the early pandemic when the workforce was nowhere to be seen on ground and simultaneously the state was not ready for this challenge, facing short of gears for its frontliners, fortunately we at Ehsaas Trust got an opportunity to work and do our bit in the Covid 19 Emergency.
We happened to start in March 2020 and it ended around June-July. Working day and night we were able to produce around 45000 PPE kits. We hired 27 stitching centres across the Srinagar District and I made sure that most of the manpower are females reason being women empowerment. About 300 women mostly from downtrodden families were engaged in the work.
βAlso we could foresee that in times where people were facing financial aid emotional crunch domestic violence might accelerate and so in order to engage women and men wherein they could get busy and earn at the same time I along with my team managed to reach out to them and get them involved in the project,β a team member Snowber.
We searched through the internet like YouTube tutorials to design the PPE kits. After that consulted the skilled manpower and finally managed to design them.
Also we had a team of 30 volunteers who helped us run this project.
βThe most challenging job for me as an incharge was to manage the delivery of raw material in the morning to these centres and retrieving the finished products by evening on daily basis,β Snowber added.
Not only did this project generate livelihood for people who had lost their jobs but also managed to provide kits and masks where there was a crunch.
