After a productive Lanka Premier League season, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was dismissed for a duck by Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the ODI series opener on Tuesday, August 22 in Hambantota.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam's last phase of preparations for the Asia Cup 2023 began on a poor note as the star batter was out for a duck in the first of a 3-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Hambantota. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat in their series opener against Afghanistan which will serve as preparation for the Asia Cup, starting August 30.

Babar Azam got out for 0 after facing 3 balls as early as the second over of the match. Babar missed a delivery that was fired in by spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the final delivery of the second over. The on-field umpire had no hesitation to declare Babar out LBW but the Pakistan captain, after having a chat with non-striker Imam-ul-Haq, took the review.
