Paris 2024 Olympics Medal Tally at the end of Day 16: USA ends campaign with basketball gold; India placed 71st

United States of America topped the Paris Olympics medal table after winning its 40th gold medal in the women’s basketball final on Sunday. While China also has 40 golds, its silver count of 27 is less than that if USA, which is 44.

USA was the only country to overtake the 100 medal count. Japan is placed third, followed by Australia and host France in the fourth and fifth spot, respectively. India dropped to the 71st spot even after Aman Sehrawat won a bronze medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling on Friday.
