Paris Saint-Germain – A club that has everything but gained nothing

Being a PSG fan, I feel hard to write this article but this criticism shall make one understand the true problems inside this club. A club that truly represents the heart of the French Capital, Paris, upon hearing whose name gives goosebumps to their fans, is now yet to know the taste of success in European continental level.

More than 12 years since the acquisition of Qatar Sports Investment on this club for the purpose of nurturing local talents and leading them to the path of glory, PSG have won around 9 Ligue 1 titles and 12 domestic league cups. They still dream of claiming the title of European Championship at the bigger stage, which is the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

They still have marked their name in European ranks by winning the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1996, which is similar to the present day UEFA Europa League. This achievement was accomplished under the "Canal Era" of PSG, being the club taken over by a French TV channel called Canal+. This era too was considered great in the books of history for some remarkable victories against great European clubs and for the achievements as well.

The problem with PSG began right from the management as Nasser Al-Khelaïfï, the President of PSG had got to work with Leonardo Araujo, the then Sporting Director of PSG. His work at PSG had no plan as he was ready to splash money anywhere he felt that might be good. Some of the good reinforcements he did for the club was signing players like Marquinhos, Marco Verratti, Nuno Mendes, Presnel Kimpembe and more.

The transfer of Neymar Jr from Barça had impacted the club as well as the player's fame a lot. He still gets disrespected by the fans even though he is injury prone. It was a bit late when they realised their problems with Leonardo, but let's just say better late than never!

I'm glad that with Al-Khelaïfï putting less pressure on team and under Luis Campos as their new SD, PSG will create the path to their glory!
