Pele who was 82 passed away. The World knows Pele as ‘The King of Football,’ but the journey of the King doesn’t always start as a king.
He was a legendary Brazilian footballer who rose from barefoot poverty to become one of the greatest and best-known athletes of the modern world.
His real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento and he died in Sau Paulo suffering from cancer and being in and out of hospital for several months.
In his lifetime he scored 1,281 goals but in 1959 during a Sao Paulo state league match, he called his strike the best.
“I guess it was my best goal from a technical standpoint,” Sports Illustrated quoted him as saying in 1966. “I can’t say it was my biggest thrill, because it wasn’t important enough. We were ahead 4-0 at the time and we didn’t need a goal that much. But I must admit it was something special.”
Pele has been the only player in footballing history to be winning the World Cup three times.
Though Pele’s goal-scoring record might be a constant source of disagreements and debates as there is no visual evidence. What isn’t disputed is that for every trick, every skill that we see footballers execute, Pele did it first.
Pele was the first of the first, a historic legend of football.
With his skills and a winning smile, he made football the most famous on the World Map. Before Pele, the game wasn’t as popular as today. But it was Pele who charmed the people as the ambassador of the sport in his seven decades career.
Though Pele is gone, but he will always be remembered in the heart of people and in the history of football ⚽
He truly was the KING 👑💐🙏
