Question: Is death rate high among COVID patients with cardiovascular diseases as comorbidity.
Dr Nishith Chandra’s reply
Mortality is 10 times higher in patients with heart disease, who contracts COVID, than general population. About 10% of patients with pre-existing heart disease who develop COVID will die, compared with only 1% of patients who are otherwise healthy. This higher risk has also been seen in people with high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.
Vaccination is the only answer.
