PHYSICAL VERSUS CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN, WHICH IS BETTER??
1 Physical sunscreen contains active mineral ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide that sit on the skin's surface, reflecting and scattering UV rays.
2 Chemical sunscreen, on the other hand, absorbs UV radiation through chemical compounds, transforming it into heat and then releasing it from the skin.
Let's take a test - To test sunscreen efficacy on a banana, apply physical sunscreen on one half and chemical sunscreen on the other. Expose the banana to sunlight and observe any differences in color or texture between the protected and unprotected sides to assess which sunscreen performs better for UV protection.
Why there is a difference in observations??
Chemical sunscreen absorbs into the skin and then absorbs UV rays, converts the rays into heat, and releases them from the body. The active ingredients in chemical sunscreens include avobenzone, octinoxate and oxybenzone. Not pregnancy safe and Not Breast feeding safe.
Physical sunblock sits on top of the skin and reflects the sun's rays. The minerals titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the main active ingredients in physical blocks.
BOTH OF THEM ARE EQUALLY EFFECTIVE!
Why the rest of the area is better than the area where sunscreen is applied?
Banana and other fruits have an enzyme ethylene which causes ripening in fruits. This ethylene increases in warmer temperatures and decreases if kept in fridge . The chemical sunscreen absorb uv and convert it into heat due to which the area is black.
Try this and thank me later 👋
