I came across reels on Instagram of several school pass-outs and how picture-perfect their farewell was. The girls enter the campus with glamorous dresses or sarees (mostly sarees), and the boys look handsome as gentlemen in their tuxes. They look cool to us. Make us believe how unusually our school farewells happened. That our schools never looked Instagram-approved.
But I also might consider myself to be the lucky one as our batch was about to pass-out in March 2020, the covid year! And luckily our farewell was organized in the month of January (phew! That was a close call). I remember how our teachers even denied our phones to be taken inside. Eventually, we got over that ugly situation but the mood was already spoiled to some extent. We also had Instagram back then. We had friends with DSLRs and good photography skills. But what we lacked was the need to post every detail from the farewell in a 30 seconds video.
As much cool as it sounds to be able to post these reels on social media, I bet the people could hardly be present there now enjoying it for the first and the last time. I would like to conclude by saying that posting moments on social media is only healthy when we do it in its raw form without exaggeration.
