'Kamil Jacek Glik' is a Polish professional footballer. He was born on 3 February 1988 in Jastrzebie Zdroj, Poland. He plays for Benevento Calcio and Poland’s national football team. His primary position is centre back.
The tall Polish made his international debut for Poland in 2010 against Thailand. In a King’s Cup match, Glik scored his first international goal. Poland went on to win the game 3-1. He played a major role in Poland’s journey in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in 2012, Euro 2016 Cup Qualifiers and Euro 2016.
Playing Style: Glik is a tall centre back with great physicality, but also good mobility; his biggest strength is undoubtedly his aerial ability, both in marking and on set pieces in the opposing area. He is also known for his leadership on the pitch.
Glik has played a total of 97 Fifa World Cup matches for his nation, and has scored 6 goals. Glik also played a main part in the Monaco side which won the 2016–17 Ligue 1 title, making 36 appearances and scoring 6 goals. However, in August 2020, newly promoted Serie A club Benevento announced the signing of Glik from Monaco on a three-year contract.
The tall Polish lad will play a crucial part in Poland's defensive line. His recent form has been frequently talked about, focusing on his hardcore defensive tactics. Robert Lewandowski would be the essential key to success for Poland, but Glik's contribution would be just as important. Hopefully, they execute their plans well and we can have a chance to see Poland in the round of 16.
