The legendary BJP leader LK Advani turned 95 today, so Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to him at home to wish him a best wishes. Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, was with PM Modi.
Although the visuals from state broadcaster Doordarshan did not include the audio of the session, PM Modi entered the lawn with Mr. Advani's daughter Pratibha Advani and presented him with a bouquet before sitting down to talk. They were observed sitting close to one another, grinning, and speaking animatedly.
"Your life committed to the nation and organisation is an example for us," BJP president JP Nadda tweeted in Hindi.
The BJP's rise over the past three decades, from a party with two seats in the Lok Sabha to first forming alliance governments in the late 1990s to finally coming to power with its own majority under Narendra Modi in 2014, is credited in large part to Mr. Advani, who served as Deputy Prime Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
