Portugal have announced their 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The team has been one of the most dominant sides in Europe over the last several years in significant tournaments. The Selecao will thus once again be looking to make a mark in the Ll important upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022.
Fernando Santos will be hopeful of making things happen for his side in this edition of the world cup. The coach has got a fairly good bunch of players and his task will be to bring the best out of them in Qatar. A certain Cristiano Ronaldo will be leading his team in what will be his fifth World Cup edition appearance so far in his international career. Though the 37-year-old hasn't had his best possible season so far with Manchester United lately, he will be an important part of his team and will look to display courageous performances in possibly his last World Cup.
The squad will comprise of several other capable players who shall be strengthening the team even further during the World Cup. Youngsters like Raphael Leao and Joao Felix shall provide more solidity in the forward. Bruno Fernandez and Bernardo Silva's duo shall be giving the midfield a stable look. Diogo Dalot, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and others shall make up the defence. Rui Patricio who has been the shot-stopper for his side in the majority of the occasions in big tournaments will be expectedly in action. Diogo Costa will be another option for Portugal between the sticks.
