Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai stressed on the importance of practicing yoga for holistic well being.
He was speaking at the International Yoga Day celebration organised by BJP's Goa Advocate Cell in coordination with Cumbarjua Mandal Committee at Old Goa Village Panchyat Hall.
Present were Sarpanch Medha Parvatkar, panches, yoga practitioner Nandadeep Keluskar and citizens.
Faldessai said that International Yoga Day was an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 10 years ago.
"The world is celebrating Yoga Day. Everyone must strive to remain physically and mentally fit. There is no other alternative to yoga to keep ailments at bay. Yoga is the best form of exercise. Stress and tension can be relieved with yoga as it keeps the mind at peace. Even half an hour a day of yoga can be hugely beneficial," he said.

He also urged people to start practising yoga.
"You remain active with yoga. If you see at Goa Medical College, there are so many people admitted for ailments. Then you'll realise that yoga is better than falling sick. There is nothing important than your health. Let us make a start today," he added.

Adyaksh Chandan Vargaokar, General Secretary, Shiva Naik, Convenor, BJP Advocate Cell, Goa Pradesh Adv Sulekha Shetye, Members of BJP Advocate Cell, Adv Akshata Puranik Bhat and Adv Rama Rivankar were also present.
