Bye bye Biden.
Now that President Joe Biden has decided to drop out of the race, high-profile democrats from all across the nation will be vying for the democratic delegates’ votes. So, who could it be?
Well, so far, Biden has fully endorsed VP Kamala Harris, along with others. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia has stated that he is considered a run. Gavin Newsom, California’s governor has been rumored for months to be Biden’s replacement should he drop out. Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois has been floated as a potential candidate too.
Really, it’s anyone’s race at this point - and perhaps RFK Jr. will become a more viable candidate in the eyes of many.
This could not have come at a worse time for democrats. This drop out, coming right off the heels of an assassination attempt against Trump, may allow Trump to gain further ground. After all, many Democrat voters, particularly more center ones, may be miffed at the idea that their vote in the primary didn’t count.
Democrats have a steep hill to climb if they’re going to make a comeback, and every step forward may prove fatal.
