President Golfers 😊
While Trump’s presence at his golf course does not close the course to the public or restrict nearby roads, security is managed by agents in golf attire who patrol in carts and secure the area before Trump arrives. Trump prefers to drive his own golf cart, which, while bearing the presidential seal, lacks additional protective features.
At times, agents use metal detectors to screen guests and golfers before they come close to Trump. Despite efforts to limit access, Trump enjoys mingling with club members. The Trump International Golf Club, adjacent to busy roads like Kirk Road, Summit Boulevard, and Congress Avenue, and close to Palm Beach International Airport, remains partially open to the public.
After Trump’s presidency, some security restrictions were relaxed, allowing public views of Trump from nearby sidewalks. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw acknowledged the security challenges, noting that if Trump were still the sitting president, the entire course would have been secured. He anticipated that future visits by Trump might see increased security measures around the perimeter.
During his presidency, Barack Obama’s most frequent golf outings were at Joint Base Andrews, a military installation with restricted access. President Joe Biden’s limited golfing has alleviated some security concerns.
