Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a visit to Lao PDR on 10-11 October to attend the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit. These are being hosted by Lao PDR. Before the Prime Minister's visit, the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday gave important information about his visit. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India attaches great importance to all mechanisms related to ASEAN. During his two-day visit, the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with Lao PDR Prime Minister Sonexay Sipandon and other leaders.
Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs Jaideep Mazumdar said that this will be the tenth time that the Prime Minister will attend the ASEAN-India Summit. The Prime Minister will assess the progress in India-ASEAN relations with other leaders as well as determine the future direction of the relationship. He said that Prime Minister Modi is going on a visit to Vientiane at the invitation of Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) PM Sipandon.
