💔Rahul Dravid's Misfortunes in World Cups
Rahul Dravid is an absolute legend. Not only was he one of the most technically gifted batters to have players the sport, but also one of the most underrated captains to lead India.
However, lady luck has not been in Dravid's favor in World Cups.
1999 World Cup: Rahul Dravid made his World Cup debut in 1999. He was the highest run getter of the tournament but inspite of his efforts, India could manage just 1 win in the Super Sixes Stage finishing on the bottom of the points table.
2003 World Cup: India made it to the Finals of the tournament with the combined efforts of all players, but lost against Australia in the Finals.
2007 World Cup: This was Rahul Dravid's last World Cup as a player and he led India in this tournament. In a nightmarish campaign, India failed to make it to the Super Eights Stage of the tournament.
2023 World Cup: This was Rahul Dravid's first World Cup as India's Head Coach. The 50 year old did a tremendous job, with the team making it to the Finals of the tournament after 11 years. That was not enough, however, as the World Cup eluded India once again.
Though the entire country is heartbroken after the close Finals loss, you have to halt and feel for the coaches, players and the management who gave it their all.
